Well, the Cardinal Lodges & Leisure Group has thought about it – extensively – and now offers the ‘Green Conference’ option to companies. Finally - an environmentally-friendly way to conference!

How does it work? Firstly, we plan your green conference by liaising in advance with the relevant venues and caterers to ensure that their offerings are aligned with your company’s ‘green objectives’. We then arrange that only either 100% bio-degradable or compostable conference material – such as pens, notepads and tablecloths – is used, and this extends to your selected choice of décor materials, as well as the tea, coffee and biscuits for your conference. We substitute plastic utensils, plates and cups with those made from bagasse (sugar-cane fibre) and Birchwood – and we even ensure that the serviettes and toilet paper your delegates use is unbleached and chlorine-free!

No matter the size of your conference – be it 300 people or 30 – we are committed to eliminating as much wastage and pollution as possible by providing green conference facilities to suit any event and number of guests. Additionally, upon request we will happily convert all of the biodegradable items used at your conference into compost and return it to your company for use in your flower or vegetable garden – or simply to plant a tree in memory of your company’s successfully green conference! We also ensure that any food left over after your conference is channeled to one or more of a choice of charities and animal shelters, so there is almost zero wastage involved in the entire conference process.
