The ability to train and fly from a busy international airport, contributes volumes to a student pilot's confidence. At some point in your flying career you will be required to fly through extremely busy airspace and land at large airports.
Early exposure to and experience with these exact conditions, contributes invaluable skill and situational awareness to your flying ability. And remember that all of us, even your instructors, are constantly learning. Be prepared for a lifelong enrolment to the institution known as "Aviation". Your flying education has only begun once you have qualified. It never stops.
In association with Foster Aero International, the Flight Academy is situated at Lanseria International Airport. Studies have named Lanseria International the busiest airport in Africa.
From the start you will be training amongst professional organisations based at this growing airport. Students will train amongst Boeing 737 airliners daily, as well as private jets, turbo prop, helicopter and other training aircraft.
The airport is a favourite point of entry for foreign dignitaries and Heads of State. It is not unusual to see Boeing 727 and 767 airliners on the apron. The operating environment at Lanseria exposes students to the varied career avenues available to aspirant commercial pilots.
Please feel free to book your introductory flight with us. New students will be given the chance to fly with an instructor and experience the sensation of flying an aircraft for the first time. This is the best way of determining your level of enthusiasm for flying. The small initial cost is certainly worth every cent, whether you decide to proceed or not.
Introductory Flight Vouchers are available for purchase, should you wish to sponsor someone that may be interested in experiencing a flight for the first time.
In order for students to be able to fly solo, following the completion of their initial dual flight training (with an instructor), the application for and issue of a Student Pilot’s Licence (SPL) is required.
Requirements for the issue of a SPL:
The Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL) enables you to operate an aircraft on which you were trained as Pilot in Command (PIC). A PPL licence holder is permitted to fly himself/herself, and carry non-paying passengers during the day only, and in clear weather conditions.
Requirements for the issue of a PPL:
Should you wish to increase your range of flying skills, the Night Rating is the next step. For those students wishing to complete a Commercial Pilots Licence, this rating is the first of a number of pre-requisites. The ability to fly at night adds an additional dimension to the flights you wish to undertake. You are able to plan for a flight entirely at night. Or you may conclude a flight which is partly conducted at night.
Requirements for the issue of a Night Rating:
The basic principles of Instrument flight would have been covered in the night rating. Additional training is however required to teach students about flying in inclement weather. This will include the regulations and laws governing when you may, and when may not contemplate take-offs and landings, the considerations required for your destination airfield, radio navigation aids and instrument holding procedures amongst others.
Requirements for the issue of an Instrument Rating:
We can refer students from out of town to comfortable and fully furnished self catering accommodation. The Flight Academy is within walking distance of the accommodation.
A total of 6 aircraft are available for initial as well as advanced student training.
